Traditional families

It’s about time that social arbiters started to recognize that diversity in families already exists. I once calculated that with the advent of birth control and frequency of divorce in Canada, each child has eight times more presents coming his or her way from blended-family grandparents, e.g. step-grandparents, biological grandparents.

Here’s a statistic from the Family Values blog:

Fewer than 25% of Americans live in a ‘conventional nuclear family’ (consisting of a married heterosexual couple living under the same roof with their biological children).
