White supremacists in U.S. police forces

A little-noted FBI report documented the infiltration of U.S. police forces by organized racists in white supremacist organizations.

Who voted against civil rights for African-Americans?

The original House version:

  • Southern Democrats: 7–87 (7%–93%)
  • Southern Republicans: 0–10 (0%–100%)
  • Northern Democrats: 145-9 (94%–6%)
  • Northern Republicans: 138-24 (85%–15%)

The Senate version:

  • Southern Democrats: 1–20 (5%–95%)
  • Southern Republicans: 0–1 (0%–100%)
  • Northern Democrats: 45-1 (98%–2%)
  • Northern Republicans: 27-5 (84%–16%)

Racist Republicans—again

The office of the ironically named Diane Black, a Republican senator for Tennessee, has e-mailed a racist cartoon depicting Barack Obama as a black “spook” in the dark. A staffer, Sherri Goforth, sent out the racist cartoon from an official e-mail address. Go apologized and said she had made a mistake in sending the cartoon on the wrong e-mail.

She’s sick about it alright — sick that she got caught and exposed as a racist — not because she sent out a highly offensive, racist image of our president.

Update 2: Black confirmed that she had reprimanded Goforth verbally and in writing. She said no further action was anticipated.

Also, no word on whether the staffer was reprimanded for creating this, for forwarding it, for thinking it was appropriate of funny, or for carelessly using the wrong e-mail. There’s a big difference.

If Goforth didn’t create this bit of political treason, who created it?
