Ancient amber yields arthropod fossils

Fossil hunters find 150 kg of amber containing at least 700 fossil arthropods. They are 52 million years old. The article points out that when they were trapped in resin, India had yet to crash into Asia. The article mentions bees, spiders, termites, gnats, ants, flies, and praying mantises. As this is Teh Grauniad reporting, they were found in deposits variously referred to as Cambay Shale and Cambray Shale—take your pick. (Pictures)
