That particular aquarium is the Silverfish Aquarium from Octopus Studios. They are coy about their location but it seems to be Europe if not the U.K. It looks pricey to me. Rumour has it that the price is $3400 (currency not specified) and they are custom-built. Heating and filtration equipment is in the base, but the aquarium is for fresh-water fish so I suspect that the heating equipment is minimal if it exists. You can also sign a maintenance contract to have someone else take care of the aquaria.

You might want to look into alternatives, such as designing your own or creating a simple setup with tanks and large, transparent siphons to let fish move from one tank to another.

The Rainforest Cafe restaurants in the Americas have large, tropical fish tanks that rise overhead and frame the entrance. However, I’m sure you know that marine tanks are not for beginners.

  26. monado Says:

Please read the other comments. I know nothing about the tanks except what’s on the web. Try looking for “speciality fish tanks”. You might be able to rig up a test setup with two tanks and a large Plexiglas(tm) tube to see how well it works and whether your fish like it.

Rainforest Cafe restaurants have fish-tanks with an overhead arch but they are sea-water (marine) fish-tanks. Marine fish are very sensitive to water chemistry and you must be an experienced fish-keeper to keep them healthy. Some people suggest keeping the water and corals for a year before adding any fish.

I’m big on science and biology in fact I have a science blog on wordpress (ranalocathescienceguy.wordpress.com). I love fish, I love this tank and want one of my own but there is a let down, if you have air breathers like African dwarf frogs they will die because they will be trapped in one of the lower modules and will drown. other than that this is a great tank!!! :)
