Garibaldi Panorama will be digitized


Brown University is helping to create a digital image of the Garibaldi Panorama, a 273-foot-long watercolor roll, painted on both sides, that tells the story of how Garibaldi helped to unite the Italian peninsula into a nation.

16th-C sword unearthed

Martin Rundkvist at Aardvarkaeolgy has uncovered a sixteenth-century Swedish officer’s sword:

Aided by many volunteers and using tools borrowed from my dad and the Stockholm County Museum, I’ve spent the day getting the Djurhamn sword out of the ground.

It’s called the Djurhamm sword after its location.
