This book, a first novel by a talented photographer, is getting rave reviews and has been shortlisted for Canada’s prestigious Giller prize. I saw an interview with the author in Montreal on CBC TV tonight and I’ll be rooting for him on November 7 when the Giller prize is announced.
It’s about two young men growing up in the Civil War in Lebanon and about their choices. Check the Amzaon link for some reactions from readers:
Samuel Myers:
This is a superb book that could not be more timely.
“A customer”:
This novel is one of the best I have read in years. It is a book that offers a fascinating tale told in a humorous, and uniquely poetic voice. It is so refreshing to read a book that stands on its own, undefinable, enjoyable and surprising at every turn.
