It’s time to stop trawler fishing

And other things. Scraping the bottom of the seafloor is not a good way to preserve the ecosystem, nor is filling in mangrove swamps (fish nurseries) for beaches and hotels.

Evangelical minister quits in gay sex scandal

A well-known evangelical minister who preaches against homosexuality and opposes same-sex marriage was “outed” by a male excort who says that Rev. Ted Haggard has been paying for sex for the last three years.

“It made me angry that here’s someone preaching about gay marriage and going behind the scenes having gay sex,” said Jones, who added that he isn’t working for any political group.

Jones, whose allegations were first aired on KHOW-AM radio in Denver, claimed Haggard paid him to have sex nearly every month over three years. Jones also said Haggard snorted methamphetamine before their sexual encounters to heighten his experience.

It’s not that Haggard has done anything illegal. Immoral, yes: it seems that he’s cheating on his wife and exposing her to sexually transmitted diseases without her knowledge (apparently–we’ll have to wait for evidence). The reason for the gleeful publicity is that he’s a hypocrite, condemning behaviour that he does himself. He’s a hateful, nasty, spiteful person who incites hatred against identifiable groups — identifiable by traits they can’t help — and tries to make laws discriminating against them. Does anybody wonder why he’s being publically scorned?
