The only disadvantage to reading science fiction is that we get to worry about ecological problems a lot longer than most people. The population bomb, pesticides, pollution, and global warming. I remember telling someone in the mid-80s that there was a chance global warming could make Earth could go off the temperature scale and overheat like Venus. Ah, well. Time will tell.
